Zendaya, the multi-talented actress and fashion icon, made a stunning statement at the world premiere of ‘Dune: Part Two’ in London. She showcased a jaw-dropping ensemble that turned heads on the sand carpet. While she had previously opted for earth tones in her press appearances, this time she chose an archival cyborg suit from Thierry Mugler’s fall/winter 1995 couture collection.
The metallic armor set featured silver panels, sheer plexiglass inserts, corset-style details, built-in gloves, and matching silver heels.
The Inspiration Behind the Look
This particular catsuit, known as the “Machinenmensch” or Machine Human, was originally inspired by the character Futura from the dystopian novel Metropolis. Designed over six months by Mugler and artist Jean-Jacques Urcun, it hadn’t been worn since its debut on the ’90s runway.
Zendaya decided against the matching headpiece, opting instead for a sleek hairstyle and a striking blue diamond necklace from Bulgari.
A Quick Change
After dazzling in the cyborg suit, Zendaya changed into a black, curve-hugging Mugler gown paired with vintage Bulgari jewels for practicality. Her fashion choices, orchestrated with the help of stylist Law Roach, have solidified her as a standout on the Dune press tour.
Looking Ahead
As Zendaya gears up to promote her upcoming film Challengers and co-chair the Met Gala, anticipation for her future fashion moments is high. However, after her iconic appearance in the archival Mugler, it’s difficult to imagine how she could surpass such a memorable moment.
Zendaya’s choice of outfit for the ‘Dune: Part Two’ premiere was more than just a fashion statement. It was a nod to the past, a glimpse into the future, and a testament to her fearless approach to fashion. Her fashion choices continue to captivate audiences worldwide, leaving us eagerly anticipating her next red carpet appearance.
