Fans of Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending sci-fi thriller Tenet have a reason to rejoice, as Warner Bros. has announced that the film will be re-released in theaters for one week. The film to be re-released on large-format screens, including 70 mm IMAX, IMAX, digital and 70 mm film screens from February 23, 2024.
The re-release will also include exclusive footage from Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune: Part Two, which is set to hit the theaters on March 1, 2024.
Tenet, which stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, and Kenneth Branagh, revolves around the concept of time inversion, where actions and events occur in reverse, challenging the traditional flow of time.
The film was released in September 2020 and earned over $360 million worldwide. The re-release of Tenet is seen as a gesture of support from Nolan to Villeneuve, who are both fans of each other’s work.
“I’m thrilled that Warner Bros. is giving audiences a chance to see Tenet the way it was intended to be seen, on the largest IMAX and large format film screens,” Nolan said. “And I’m honored to have our movie warm up the film projectors for Denis’ jaw-dropping Dune: Part Two.”
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two (2) is the second of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel Dune by Frank Herbert, and follows Paul Atreides as he unites with the people of the desert planet Arrakis to wage war against House Harkonnen. The film features an ensemble cast- Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Dave Bautista.
Warner Bros. hopes that the re-release of Tenet will attract more viewers to the theaters, and generate more buzz for Dune: Part Two, which is expected to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2024.
Tickets for the re-release of Tenet will go on sale on February 16, 2024, and will be available at all U.S. cities and select overseas markets.
