Fans of the hit soap opera “General Hospital” (GH) were in for a treat on March 4, 2024, when the beloved character Jason Morgan, played by Steve Burton, made a dramatic and unexpected return.
Burton, who had previously brought Jason to life from 1991 to 2012 and again from 2017 to 2021, was previously fired from the series due to his noncompliance with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate on set. Yet, he made a grand return in an episode that marked a bloody comeback for his character.
Burton shared that the writers originally planned a different storyline for his character. However, a significant shift in the writers’ room led to an exciting change in the creative team behind GH.
This change involved promoting Elizabeth Korte, a veteran member of the GH writing staff, to co-head writer alongside newcomer Patrick Mulcahey. Despite his limited knowledge about his character’s arc leading up to his comeback, Burton expressed confidence in this new team.
He had high praise for Korte, saying, “No one in the building loves the show, knows the character’s history, and is as invested in it 100% Elizabeth.” He added that her promotion was well-deserved.
Burton was eager to see what the team had planned for his comeback story under Korte’s leadership. He described the experience as “amazing,” meeting his anticipation with satisfaction.
In a conversation with GH fan, Burton expressed his gratitude for the fans’ commitment to the show. He found it amusing when the fan speculated about his return’s plot, revealing that none of the speculations were accurate. He urged fans to watch the March 4 episode to witness the actual events.
Jason Morgan’s return has undoubtedly sparked excitement among GH fans. We’d love to hear your thoughts on his return, share your opinion in the comments below!
